Our next artist showcase, Letters From El Valle & Beyond/Letras del Valle y Más Allá, highlights the 'vivid desert readings' of local writers Randy Heflin, Margarita Cruz and Oscar Mancinas.
Oscar Mancinas is a Rarámuri-Chicanx writer, teacher, and PhD candidate born and raised in Mesa’s Washington-Escobedo neighborhood. He is the author of the poetry chapbooks Jaula and Roto: A Mex-Tape, and the short fiction collection To Live and Die in El Valle.
Margarita Cruz is an assistant editor for Tolsun Books, a columnist for Flagstaff Live!, Vice President for the Northern Arizona Book Festival and received her MFA in Creative Writing from Northern Arizona University where she exists outside of herself most days at PANK, the New Delta Review, forthcoming in DIAGRAM among others. Find more of her at shortendings.com.
When Randy Heflin Jr. isn't writing poetry, he's writing jokes for stand up comedy aka putting dumb words together to make people laugh.Other than that, he's either working, drinking, playing video games, or sleeping.
